Nicole Florida

Producer

Our Producer Nicole is an organisational powerhouse, having been instrumental in establishing the English dubbing department for a global localisation company, followed by a stint in content distribution for Disney.

Bringing a love of M&E content, theatre, travel and literature to the studio, she has never seen a project that she didn't want to get stuck into. But she reserves special affection for documentaries and animations. And corgis.

Q&A with Nicole

What do you do at Liquid Violet/what does your job title mean?

I’m a Producer, so I look after communication with clients, agents and actors, as well as scheduling the recording sessions (on top of other things, like some well-beloved admin). I am on the Media & Entertainment side of things, so I mainly work on English dubbing projects and dialogue origination for animation.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Spending all of my money on the theatre (working in Soho really doesn’t help),reading and travelling. When they finally come around once a year, I am also always ready for Wimbledon and the BFI London Film Festival!

What is your biggest work-based accomplishment that you are really proud of?

In my first company I had the chance to play an active role in setting up the brand new in-house production department for dubbing foreign content into UK English. We had very little idea of how that industry worked at the time, so it was challenging but also very exciting!

What led you to this career?

Chance! I have always been passionate about cinema and the entertainment industry but during university, my dream was to become an interpreter (I could already see myself in a booth at the UN Headquarters in New York). After my Masters, I quickly realised that to survive in London I needed a full-time job, so landed a Project Manager role in a media localisation company and here I am now! Still loving it!

What's the best part about your job?

Definitely getting to meet all the lovely people that come to record at our studios! And of course getting to watch some pretty cool stuff before everybody else!

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

Money and holidays…so I could finally go to every country in the world!

Doctor Who offers to take you back in time – what historical figure do you most want to meet?

Impossible question, there are so many! I would just love to be able to go back in time and witness some important historical moments as they unfold or experience life in the past. Picture the movie “Midnight in Paris” but with me instead of Owen Wilson. I would love to have a party with Dalí & Picasso!

Which team member would you like to swap places with for a day?

Hannah, no doubt! I would cast all my favourite actors and bring them in for a session.

What form would your daemon take?

Does Stitch in his alien form count? I do relate to him a lot when I am upset! Ahaha!

What could you give a presentation on with no advance warning?

Corgis! Especially my amazing corgi 'Freedom', the love of my life!

What is a job that you would be terrible at?!

Waitress! I cannot balance even a single plate or glass (or myself)…let alone several!

What fictional place would you like to visit?

Easiest question ever…Middle Earth here I come!

What’s one thing that you’ve never done that you would like to do?

Climb Mount Everest! I’ll never have the stamina nor the courage but a dream is always a dream!

What was your very first job?

Language teacher in a little school in Moscow.

What other completely different job would you like to do if you weren’t doing this one?

Archaeologist! I love history and would have loved to have been the one discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun.

If you could become an overnight expert in something, what would it be?

I would love to develop a talent in creative writing. I have so many ideas but I am just unable to write them down in a nice and interesting way!

Any hidden talents?

I am a flag connoisseur…does that count? Only official country flags though, still working on the rest.

What’s one song that you have completely memorized?

I grew up with the Beatles so I am going to choose Hey Jude.
