Hannah Winskill

Casting Director

Agent, Amdram, avid tea drinker. Our Casting Director Hannah has won the world record for longest phone contact list, and she has the experience to prove it. A collaborator through and through, Hannah knows the importance of authenticity in casting.

You'll find she is as at home scouting talent for a children's animation as she is a gore-filled RPG. When she's not doing either, you'll likely find her at the theatre.

Q&A with Hannah

What do you do at Liquid Violet/what does your job title mean?

I am the Casting Director at Liquid Violet. In a nutshell, I liaise with clients at the start of their projects to get a feel for the world they want to create and then find the artists who are going to bring that to life.

What’s the best part about your job?

I love how creative I get to be in my job, your mind is constantly running trying to fit the best casting suggestions together. It’s also a joy to be able to work with so many talented artists and with such a lovely team at Liquid Violet.

What is your biggest work-based accomplishment that you are really proud of?

In terms of projects, I’d have to say Elden Ring. So much hard work and care went into it over the course of 2 years and it’s amazing to see how well the game has been received. Me and my friend still haven’t managed to complete it but every time we come across a new speaking character I beam with joy.

What led you to this career?

When I was a teenager, I used to record my voice over animations for fun and that’s where my love of Voice Over started. I had done a bit of Casting for a musical in university and really enjoyed it, that led me to look into working for either a Talent Agent or Casting Director. It just so happened that I ended up doing this specifically for Voice Over work. I truly believe the stars aligned and allowed me to combine my love for Casting and Voice Over.

What’s one thing that you’ve never done that you would like to do?

I would love to see the Northern Lights, it’s top of my bucket list.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

I feel like I could go with a practical answer here, but I’m not, so I’m going to go with Galaxy chocolate or Ferrero Rocher.

Doctor Who offers to take you back in time – what historical figure do you most want to meet?

It’s got to be Jesus, I’d have so many questions.

If you could become an overnight expert in something, what would it be?

Either cooking or playing the guitar.

Any hidden talents?

I have mastered the art of napping on trains.

What’s one song that you have completely memorized?

Oh there are so many! I’m quite proud that I have been able to recite every colour of Joseph’s technicolour dream coat in the song ‘Jacob and Sons/ Joseph’s Coat’ since I was 8 years old.

What form would your daemon take?

I’m not just saying it because I have one, but I genuinely believe my daemon is a dachshund.

What could you give a presentation on with no advance warning?

All things Disney.

Which team member would you like to swap places with for a day?

I’d love to have a go at being a studio engineer for a day providing I can come in with the knowledge of knowing how to operate everything!

What was your very first job?

My very first job was a supermarket assistant at Waitrose.

What other completely different job would you like to do if you weren’t doing this one?

If I wasn’t doing this, I would probably work in massage therapy. I care a lot about mental and physical wellbeing and would love to work in a job that allowed people to unwind and escape for a little while. I think the world moves so fast these days and sometimes we need to slow down, appreciate the simple things and look after ourselves.

What is a job that you would be terrible at?

I think I would struggle being a waitress or a bartender. I just know I would be dropping plates and glasses here, there and everywhere!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

My main passion outside of work is Musical Theatre. I’ve always had a huge passion for it and joined an Amateur Dramatics Musical Theatre Company when I was 17. I’ve never looked back since then and it’s played such an important part in my life having met many of my closest friends through it and my partner.

What fictional place would you like to visit?

Just the entire Pokemon world, I wish they were real.
