Transfer and Asset Coordinator
HuiYun's arrival has been a welcome relief to overburdened studios that only just keep up with Liquid Violet's rate of production. Her ruthlessness in channelling recordings and sessions from gargantuan projects is redolent of Tolstoyan campaigns.
HuiYun is as likewise unforgiving about producers' technological ineptitudes ("Boomer!") as she is about any, now brave, soul who chances 'authentic' Asian cuisine for lunch.
Q&A with HuiYun
What do you do at Liquid Violet/what does your job title mean?
I am a Transfer and Asset Coordinator. I make sure sessions are setup before recording and assets are correctly delivered to clients! There is also the occasional “sherlocking”, as we say, meaning finding missing files and relocating them!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love doing DIY projects. But whenever I’m free, I’m always embroidering scenic views on tote bags or clothes! I also love to cook, since a lot of foods I miss from home can’t be bought. So, I like to challenge myself and replicate them.
What other completely different job would you like to do if you weren’t doing this one?
I would have wanted to be a VFX Artist since I love the creative process, but unfortunately, I don’t think what I’ve got cuts it, haha!
What led you to this career?
Growing up, I always loved watching TV and films. As it was really stressful studying back home, I used this as an outlet to escape. I was always interested in doing something related to audio, so I thought why not do audio for Games and Film & TV! I went to pursue my passion and here I am!
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Air-miles! So, I can always travel the world and visit new exciting areas!
What’s the best part about your job?
Helping out the team whenever they encounter a problem or need a pair of extra hands! Also sitting in on recording sessions to understand the production workflows and interacting with talent!
Which team member would you like to swap places with for a day?
Hannah! It would be really cool to listen to different talented people in the world and then cast them in the right roles.
What’s one thing that you’ve never done that you would like to do?
Parachuting/ paragliding. I’m afraid of heights but I have always wanted to see the world from a bird’s eye view.
What could you give a presentation on with no advance warning?
Anything Disney related to be honest!
What is a job that you would be terrible at?!
A Waitress….I’m definitely too clumsy and my hands would be trembling too much!
What was your very first job?
I went through multiple audio internships whilst I was in Singapore, but I would say my very first real job was a retail assistant in TKMaxx.
If you could become an overnight expert in something, what would it be?
Being able to build anything!
