Forming engineer and editor, current producer and tech whisperer, our Tech Ops Lead Jareth is a true all-rounder. When he's not chatting to clients or evolving our studio's capabilities, he's likely at one of the London restaurant scene's best-kept-secrets.
Alternatively, he's at the cinema watching anything but a horror film, despite winning 'Best Sound Design' at the Independent Horror Movie Awards.
Q&A with Jareth
What do you do at Liquid Violet/what does your job title mean?
I am a the Technical Operations Lead, meaning I manage the more in-studio, post-production and technical aspects of our projects. This ranges from asset management, QC to researching and applying new workflows and talking to clients about how to best get what they want. A. bit of everything really!
What’s the best part about your job?
I love the problem-solving aspect. Coming up with solutions to long-standing problems, and watching them work, is a great feeling.
What was your very first job?
An assistant at a beach shack, I make a mean 99 with flake.
What other completely different job would you like to do if you weren’t doing this one?
An Etymologist! I don’t think that’s a career but I do love a good history of words.
What fictional place would you like to visit?
Alagaesia, from the Inheritance Cycle books.
Doctor Who offers to take you back in time – what historical figure do you most want to meet?
Boudicca, assuming the translation circuit is working.
If you could become an overnight expert in something, what would it be?
The Accordion.
What could you give a presentation on with no advance warning?
A deep dive into Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings composition. We love a leitmotif!
