Katie is known to laugh in the face of adversity, and so spends her days merrily laughing away. Processing more emails daily than anyone comprehends, Katie's ability to zip in and out of situations with a spooky awareness of even the minutest details constantly startles client and colleagues alike.

Her well of production knowledge is a consistent education to everyone in the team, all of whom have noticed that whilst Katie claims to commute on the tube, no one has yet uncovered the reason she keeps a collapsible broomstick in her bag...

Q&A with Katie

What do you do at Liquid Violet/what does your job title mean?

I am the Studio Head which means I am ultimately responsible for the team, the performance and growth of our studio, and shaping the general strategy for the business.

What other completely different job would you like to do if you weren’t doing this one?

I would love to be a full time writer – a novelist.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I’m not working, I write short stories, start novels which rarely get finished, read, watch TV, potter around my house, collect weird antiques, and see as much theatre, cinema, live music, comedy, and cabaret as I can – usually before or after a nice meal and a glass or three of wine!

What was your very first job?

My first job in the industry was as runner and receptionist for a production company that specialised in casting and recording radio commercials – I have come full circle back to voice performance! My VERY first job was working in a shop at a railway station straight out of school.

What fictional place would you like to visit?

I would love to visit Middle Earth!

What’s one thing that you’ve never done that you would like to do?

Hula with a flaming hoop!

What could you give a presentation on with no advance warning?

Victorian wallpapers. The TV show, Supernatural. Liquid Violet (hopefully haha!)

Doctor Who offers to take you back in time – what historical figure do you most want to meet?

That’s a near impossible question. I’m so nosy. The gothic writer in me would love to go back to the streets of 1880s Whitechapel and solve the case of Jack the Ripper. It’s not a wise choice to meet a notorious serial killer, granted, but I cannot resist a mystery. While I was there, I’d see if I could grab a drink with Aubrey Beardsley and Oscar Wilde.

What’s one song that you have completely memorised?

I have a weirdly amazing memory for song lyrics. I think I’d be a lot smarter if 80% of my memory wasn’t taken up with lyrics to 80s power ballads. There are lots of albums I know back to front and could sing you all the parts to. You’re welcome to challenge me any time!
